The History of Diving In the Movies.

We have to admit, right from the start, that this month's Blood 'N' Bubble featured flick is a stinker. This movie is so bad that most video rental stores won't even carry it! Made in 1986, and starring Jeff Conaway, Gregg Henry and Simone Griffith (with cameos by Leslie Nielsen and Michael J. Pollard) the movie follows a dishonorably discharged navy Seals diver who uses scuba gear to retrieve a stolen nuclear warhead and redeem himself. Can you name the movie?

The trailer for the movie The Patriot said that for its hero, Lt. Matt Ryder "The War Never Ended!" For divers this film seems to never end. Most of the underwater scenes (shot off Catalina Island) involve divers shooting at each other with a variety of high-tech subsea weapons. Continuity problems have divers jumping in with blue aluminum tanks and new Tusa BCs and then showing up under an oil rig with steel tanks, no BCs and different style masks! Worst scene in the movie has our hero's girlfriend murdered while inside a chamber. The bad guys severed a few hoses while she was at depth. eech!
